Reverend Dr. Marvin Simmons is the annointed pastor of the St. Paul First Baptist Church of Jefferson, Ga.  A native of Pensacola, Florida, he holds an Associate, Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degress in Biblical Education.  He accepted his calling to the ministry at a very young age.  Prior to relocating to Georgia, Reverend Simmons served as a Youth Pastor in Alabama for many years and was a musician for the Youth Department of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Florida.

Reverend Dr. Simmons came to St. Paul in 1994.  He provides his congregation with strong teaching and preaching and as a result, the church is experiencing growth especially among the younger age groups.  His next vision is to expand the present sanctuary to accommodate the growing membership and changing spiritual needs of the community.  Jefferson is located in Jackson, County, Georgia, one of the fastest growing counties in the Southeast.

The Reverend is not only a powerful preacher of the gospel, but a soul-stirring vocalist and organist as well.  Because of these special gifts, he has been the recipient of many awards and is an inductee in the Pensacola Music Makers Hall of Fame.

He is a spirit-led visionary and a humble servant to his congregation and community.  He is energetic and takes every opportunity to recognize individuals for their accomplishments no matter how small they may seem to others; he is an encourager.

Reverend Dr. Simmons is married to the former Dr. Ola Lumpkin and they are the parents of two adult sons and grandparents to one boy and one girl.
